Grana Padano is produced in a specific geographical area located in the
northern Italy and in particular in some provinces like:
Alessandria, Asti, Biella, Cuneo, Novara,
Torino, Verbania, Vercelli, Bergamo, Brescia, Como, Cremona,
Lecco, Lodi, Mantova, Milano, Monza, Pavia, Sondrio, Varese,
Trento, Padova, Rovigo, Treviso, Venezia, Verona, Vicenza,
Bologna, Ferrara, Forlì Cesena, Piacenza, Ravenna and Rimini,
as well as the following districts of the Bolzano province:
Ante-rive, Lauregno, Proves, Senale-S. Felice and Trodena.
Grana Padano is a P.D.O. product and its status is governed
by European regulations (n. 2081/92 and n. 1107/96) that provide
minimal standard procedures in the cheese processing , specific product
properties and "quality seal" issued by "Consorzio per la tutela del
Grana Padano" a governance entity in charge of quality requirements.
